A Grand Night indeed !
Well done everyone what a great success the Rodgers & Hammerstein Revue is. The whole family came last night (Saturday) and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Everything from the singing, the band (very talented and so young), the staging and arrangements was really excellent. I enjoyed it all immensely so many well known numbers neatly packaged in a journey through their careers. The full ensemble singing blended particularly well and it was great to see so many people taking on solo parts. It's too difficult to have a favourite, but I must mention that the arrangement of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' for me was particularly beautiful, it was such a gentle and harmonious version. The only problem was it had me wishing I was up there with you all singing as well, but then I even got a small chance to do that when the audience was invited to sing-a-long with Eidelweiss.
Great job by all.
Andrew.

Congratulations!!
Congratulations to the Savoy Singers for their exciting new website, and congratulations on their marvellous shows! I only became a Fan fairly recently - in fact my very first show was on the 40th Anniversary, when the cast gave a stunning performance of The Mikado, which took my breath away! My next visit was to something I had heard of, but knew very little about - the delightful Die Fledermaus. I took my seat in the front row, read the synopsis in my programme & prepared for ~ what? I needn't have worried, I was entertained & enchanted by masks & mistaken identities, frivolities & frilly gowns, even a grey wig that was "borrowed" from the delightfully muddled lawyer in the last act, so that he came on to take his final bow looking somewhat incongruous!!
Fast forward through such joyful occasions as HMS Pinafore: The Zoo (another lovely surprise): Chess (which I regretfully missed due to other commitments) and then my all-time favourite ~Pirates of Penzance! A particular highlight of the two performances I attended, was the classic moment when the Policeman's lot was definitely not an 'appy one, as his truncheon disintegrated bit by bit!!
Now I am anticipating different pleasure - from Gilbert&Sullivan to Rodgers&Hammerstein. My seat(s) are booked, and once again I prepare to enjoy the magic that is.......The Savoy Singers!!!
