• Welcome to The Savoy Singers

An award winning Amateur Operatic Society based in Camberley

    broken image

The Savoy Singers is an Amateur Operatic group based in Camberley with a long history of performing exciting and charismatic Gilbert & Sullivan performances at Camberley Theatre. We are a leading and long established amateur operatic society which prides itself on the excellence and professionalism of our productions. We are a friendly group who enjoy the challenges and rewards of performing two shows a year to the highest of standards.

Our two annual shows take place in March and October and combine musical quality with innovative production. Typically our March show is a Gilbert & Sullivan Operetta and our October show is a musical revue or modern musical. We are a NODA award winning society and rehearse on Wednesday evenings at Heatherside Community Centre throughout the year.

  • About The Savoy Singers

Affiliated to the National Operatic & Dramatic Association. Registered Charity 273603.

    broken image

The Savoy Singers came into being in 1968 when a group of Gilbert & Sullivan enthusiasts living in Camberley and adjoining towns, decided to form a local society to perform the Savoy Operas – hence our title.

We are a lively society and perform two shows per year at Camberley Theatre and other local venues. Loyal to our origins, our March show is usually one of the Gilbert & Sullivan Operettas, whilst our October show is either an Operetta or a musical revue.

We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at Heatherside Community Centre from 8.00 – 10pm and principal rehearsals are usually on Thursday evenings. During the run up to a performance, full company rehearsals are often required on Sunday afternoons from 2-5pm.

    Social Events

We carry out a number of social events throughout the year to help raise funds for the society, but more importantly they’re a great opportunity for socialising with friends!

These events include skittles evenings, barn dances, treasure hunts and Christmas meals.
